JUDITH MIJDERWIJK

The Fragile Beauty of Glaciers – a Disappearing World

Photography

29 May – 11 June 2026
OPENING on Saturday from 16:00h

Judith Mijderwijk is a self-taught Dutch photographer living in Austria. After studying Italian Language and Culture at Leiden University, she transformed her long-standing passion for the Alps into a professional photographic practice. Having spent many childhood holidays in Ticino with her family, the alpine landscape has remained a defining presence in her work.
For more than a decade, Judith has explored the Alpine arc with her camera, focusing on themes of scale, vulnerability, and the relationship between humans, animals, and extreme environments. Her work centers on alpine landscapes, glaciers, and mountain terrain, as well as on people and animals moving through demanding natural conditions. In addition to her landscape practice, she also photographs sled dog races and winter horse racing, observing moments where speed, risk, and cooperation become visible.
Her photographs have been exhibited internationally in Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands, with presentations in exhibitions and galleries in cities such as Zürich, Geneva, Vienna, Innsbruck, Domodossola, Munich, Berlin, and Utrecht, as well as at major photography festivals including Wunderwelten (Friedrichshafen), Festival La Gacilly Baden Photo, and Photo+Adventure (Vienna). Her work has received numerous prizes and distinctions in international photography competitions, including the Swiss Photo Club, the Monochrome Awards, Zoom.nl, the Austrian Photographic Federation (ÖVF), and PhotoSuisse. One of the most significant achievements is her overall victory in the international Berge 2025 competition, organized by PhotoSuisse and the Austrian Photographic Federation (ÖVF), where she won the combined ranking and several top placements in individual categories.
With this series dedicated to glaciers, she wishes to share their hidden and fragile beauty, especially now, as they are disappearing due to climate change. While preparing the project, Blatten, a village in the Swiss Alps, was almost entirely buried by a collapsing glacier. The title therefore resonates with a double meaning: it is not only a photographic tribute to the world of ice, but also a quiet warning. Fragility belongs not only to glaciers, but also to us, confronted with a natural world that is changing too rapidly. Our world, too, can disappear.
The exhibition was conceived as a larger solo project comprising over 40 works and is intended to be presented in various locations in Switzerland and abroad. The present display features a curated selection from this body of work, together with the exhibition catalogue. Even in this condensed form, the series preserves its narrative coherence and emotional intensity: an invitation to pause, to contemplate, and to reflect on a world of ice that is both magnificent and profoundly fragile.

12 – 18 Juni 2026
OPENING on Saturday from 16:00h

After spending the 1980s and 1990s transforming trains, subways, walls, and windows into more vivid visual experiences, I have carried my passion for graffiti, art, and expression into a more refined and timeless artistic language.
With over 25 years of experience shaping buildings and spaces at architectural firms, I developed my artistic practice alongside my professional work. Over time, this parallel process evolved into a distinct visual signature, rooted in the freedom of graffiti and a deep sensitivity to space, form, and composition.
My body of work is difficult to categorize, existing at the intersection of contemporary 3D urban art and refined abstract graffiti art.
It expresses a visual language that feels both soft and bold, balancing clarity with raw energy, structure with spontaneity.
In my work, I explore the tension between contrasts: dynamism and precision, the interplay of color and three-dimensional illusion against the raw industrial presence of steel. These oppositions create a dialogue that gives each piece a strong, almost tangible presence, constantly shifting with light, perspective, and environment.
My intention is not only to surprise, but to create connection. To enrich spaces with energy, character, and a subtle sense of sophistication.
Each work is designed to leave a lasting impression, transforming its surroundings into something unexpected and alive, inviting the viewer to continue through the world with a slightly lighter, more inspired feeling.
Ultimately, my ambition is simple: to create art that is not only seen, but experienced, and that elevates every space it inhabits with presence, depth, and a quiet sense of joy.
With this exhibition at EM Gallery, I hope to share that same sense of energy, wonder, and optimism with every visitor. My wish is that these works not only capture the eye, but also spark emotion, curiosity, and inspiration, leaving behind a lasting impression that continues long after the moment of viewing. If even for a brief instant my art can transform a space, shift a perspective, or make someone walk away feeling lighter, more inspired, and just a little happier, then this exhibition has fulfilled its purpose.

HANS CORDFUNKE
Paintings

11 – 17 sep. 2026
OPENING on Saturday from 16:00h

My work is a direct expression of my inner world – a flow of emotion, strength, and energy. Each painting emerges from a deeply personal experience in which love, vulnerability, connection, and power come together.
The common thread in my work is energy – a positive, flowing energy that finds its way from my feelings and emotions onto the canvas. That energy is tangible in the movement, texture, and color contrasts. It is therefore not only visible but also palpable. My paintings are moments of transformation, in which I turn my emotions into visual strength.

My work arises entirely from feeling. Without a predetermined plan, I allow colors, shapes, and movements to find their own path on the canvas. Each painting is a snapshot of my inner world – a direct translation of energy, emotion, and intuition.

What characterizes my art is the power and vibrancy it radiates. Contrasting colors and dynamic patterns ensure that you discover something new every time. These are works that continue to surprise, yet are meant to touch you. They invite an open gaze and an emotional connection.

My paintings are not stories with a beginning and an end, but rather visual experiences that keep moving… just like life itself.
I hope my art invites you to feel, to pause, to marvel, but also to connect. It is an invitation to experience the energy I have poured into it – and perhaps even to take that energy with you into your own life.

ANNET NEIJMEIJER
&
LEONIE VAN DER HELM

Photography

18 – 24 September 2026

OPENING on Saturday from 16:00h

In this joint exhibition, the works of Annet Neijmeijer and Leonie van der Helm engage in a dialogue about human experiences and how we relate to them. Though their practices differ in focus and material approach, both artists investigate what lies beneath the surface of the visible.

Annet Neijmeije
r explores space, time, and light as both physical phenomena and as the subtle frameworks through which we experience the world. Annet creates photographic images that evoke suggestions of space without a fixed scale or context. By experimenting with materials and techniques, she seeks to make space, time, and light “experiential” in a new way, inviting viewers to sense rather than define.

Leonie van der Helm explores the human body as a carrier of personal or collective trauma. Her images of the female nude in vulnerable, often uncomfortable positions reveal layers of psychological tension. Through a process of deliberate destruction and reconstruction of the printed photograph, Leonie creates new images in which damage and repair become a metaphor for the human experience.

At the heart of their shared inquiry lies a parallel between architectural space and the human body: the walls of a room and the skin of a body both act as membranes that protect yet also conceal. They hold inside the experiences, memories, and tensions that shape us. Together, their works form a dialogue between the visible and the perceptible, and between the tangible and the immaterial.

TAMASINE
Paintings

02 – 08 oct. 2026
OPENING on Saturday from 16:00h

I am a dreamer and aesthete at heart, always drawn to the calming embrace of the sea. Painting is a place for me to get completely lost in my thoughts, to lose myself in my imagination and emotions. It’s a process of creating balance and harmony through compositions and colors, largely inspired by nature.

My work invites you to explore warm tones, natural materials, and beautifully imperfect textures. I love layering and experimenting with mixed media to create pieces that draw you in, each one being original, handmade and a unique creation.

Scandinavia and Japan inspire me with their special relationship to nature as well as their unique minimalistic appeal and traditions based on craftmanship. Both are particular about detail but prefer the raw beauty and unadorned aesthetic which I greatly admire.

INE TER BOGT
Paintings

09 -15 October 2026
OPENING on Saturday from 16:00h

Ine (1961) spent her childhood sitting in the darkroom with her father every week, developing photographs. This is where she learned, from a young age, to observe carefully and developed her sense of beauty and composition. As a child, she read and drew a lot, sang in a children’s choir, and took A.M.V. (general music education) and organ lessons for ten years. At the age of 15, she attended the Vrije Academie, where she took oil painting lessons from a Hungarian artist. It was therefore a natural choice for her to continue at an art academy. Her education at the Academy of Art at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Tilburg (Tehatex) was very formative and an inspiring time, with many influential artists as teachers.

Since 1986, Ine has been active as a visual artist and has also taught Visual Arts to MBO (vocational) students—a perfect combination. She has always had a studio at home, and the urge to express herself through sketching and painting has always been present. For many years, she also made a daily sketch inspired by an event or image from the day.

MAAIKE ANNE MARIA
Paintings

09 -15 October 2026
OPENING on Saturday from 16:00h

I create art for moments to shift life.

THE BODY IN PIECES
group show & artist dinner and talk

30 Oktober – 08 November 2026

of gesuggereerd.
kunsthistorica Linda Nochlin ‘The Body in Pieces, the fragment as a metaphor of
Modernity’ (1994).
De grandeur van het verleden past niet langer binnen het kader van het heden;

JANE CHIN-A-FO

Photography

11  – 17 dec. 2026

OPENING on Saturday from 17:00h

I am Jane Chin-A-Fo, a fine art and documentary photographer based in The Hague. My work focuses on revealing the beauty of the everyday: subtle moments and details that often go unnoticed, yet create a powerful sense of connection. Through my contemporary photography, I explore how images shape the way we look, feel, and experience the world. I believe that art is not only meant to be seen—it is meant to be felt. This is why I present my work through photography exhibitions and carefully curated fine art photography books. Positioned at the intersection of art and documentary photography, my practice embraces both the possibilities and limitations of the medium. The result is fine art photography that invites viewers to pause, reflect, and engage more deeply with the image.

OPENING on Saturday from 16:00h

Sonja Rijsbosch makes paintings that move — in color, in texture, and in feeling. Inspired by nature and guided by intuition, she works in layers — using acrylic paint and mixed materials to build up expressive, large-scale pieces.

“What I like about abstract art is that it gives you the freedom to see what you feel,” Sonja says. “You can give your own meaning to a piece of work. That makes each viewer’s experience unique. I hope to bring together positive energy, surprise and vibrancy in the work I create.”
Alongside her personal work, Sonja also creates commissioned paintings that grow from someone’s story or atmosphere into something unique and personal.

SIGRID LOUISE

Paintings

16 – 22 April 2027
OPENING on Saturday from 16:00h

Sigrid Louise (Haarlem) is an abstract artist whose work reflects a deep sensitivity to the world around her. Before dedicating herself to painting, she spent many years working in environments where care and responsibility were central. Her time in the military, with NGOs, and within human rights organizations made her realize what truly matters in life: an eye for the small, the beautiful, and an eye for one another. A strong desire to help and to make a difference in the world has always guided her path.

In a world built on structure, rules, and efficiency, she now chooses to work intuitively and without a fixed plan. To contribute in a different way and to bring a sense of calm. Where others stay within the lines, she seeks freedom and lets go of control. Inspired by the colors of the sky, the land, and the earth, she brings vibrant artworks with bold contrasts and rich textures to life.

KARIN KOMPIER
Paintings

22 -28 may 2026
OPENING on Saturday from 16:00h

Born in Maarssen, The Netherlands 1970, based in Woerden

In order to fully express myself I need to create. It is a way for me to let my energy and emotions flow so I can create something beautiful and make the world a little brighter.

I love to surround myself with beautiful things, high quality materials and love to experience comfort and luxury in a peaceful, elegant environment.
With the art I create I intend to give others a piece of that experience as well.
The paintings I create are made with multiple layers of acrylic paint, sometimes combined with ink and oil pastels, carefully applied, layer upon layer. I let the flowing of the fluid paint do the work and adjust it with my paintbrush until something wonderful reveals itself. Therefore every painting is unique and exclusive.

I also do paintings on commission. It is always very nice to be in personal contact with my buyers and to do a custom-made painting for them. It brings me so much joy to search together for what inspires them and to make them happy with something I created. Also, it gives me an opportunity to combine two of my favourite things: art and interior design.

15 – 21 May 2026
OPENING on Saturday, 16 May from 16:00h

Anna Hendrix
Hey! I am Anna Hendrix and I am an artist based in Nijmegen (The Netherlands).
In 2016 I graduated in Media & Design at Rijnijssel in Arnhem. After that I studied Fine Art
“Bear” at Artez in Arnhem and graduated in 2022.
When I was a child I had a huge fascination about our existence on this planet, other worldly
beings and discovering things that were unknown to me. When I got older, daily “things”
became more familiar to me and so the wonder of existence started to become more
superficial. To trigger the inner child within us and keep humanity curious, I’ve been
discovering the unknown in the form of world building. These worlds for example can be
microscopic, zoomed out, dreams, nostalgic or from a prognosis in combination with
imagination.
Besides my passion for making art, I also love being around nature, searching for eatable
mushrooms and berries, collecting minerals because minerals are amazingly interesting or
reading a good book.

Paty Berendsen

24 years ago it was different, at the age of 2 years old, I was put up for adoption from Peru to
the Netherlands. This impacted my life, which later became part of my art practice. This opens
up a lot of questions in connection to my own identity. Through paintings, and charcoal
drawings, I express myself in art and try to find my true self. I work in my art with the feeling
of displacement, because of my adoption. The medium of painting is for me always a challenge.
I like to give it something extra. To make it more interactive, playful and not that straight
forward.
Born in 1999 in Puno, Perú. Paty Berendsen lives in a small town of the Netherlands. In Loenen
which is nearby Apeldoorn and works in her studio at home. She followed her Art Academy
Fine Art (BEAR) in Arnhem at Artez University of the Arts and graduated in 2024. At the
moment she is doing her second degree in Creative therapy at Hogeschool Utrecht in

ART COLLABORATION TRANSCENDENCE

festival

10,11,12 April 2026
OPENING on 10 April

During the weekend of the 10th till 12th of April, EM Studio Gallery and Art Center Meneer de Wit will be in full bloom! The organization has its roots in Amsterdam West but is connected to artists from all over the world. Wildgroei is a living exhibition where diverse art disciplines intertwine and grow into one another. As part of the program, EM Gallery will display a curated selection of our renowned artists who are keen to grow out of traditional systems. This weekend is a celebration of the untamed and unpredictable. We invite everyone to wander and be moved by what grows out of these walls. Beyond the gallery, the festival continues just around the corner at Art Center Meneer de Wit.

About the artists:

Sophia Clara

Sophia (Alkmaar 1994) sought from an early age a medium capable of expressing her transcendental experiences. Drawing became her first means of translation. In time, her urge to understand and articulate the metaphysical dimensions of existence led her to study cultural anthropology and development sociology in Amsterdam. While she valued the intellectual depth of academia, she ultimately felt compelled to move beyond theory and return to image — allowing emotion, intuition, and vision to take tangible form through painting.
Sophia develops immersive, often series, of work distinguished by a vibrant, intentional use of color and a dynamic interplay between expressive and figurative elements. Nature, esoteric wisdom and non-dualistic philosophy are recurring themes in her work. She likes to play with the idea that there is no fundamental separation between subject and object, human and nature, self and other. It is an invitation to explore and question the boundaries of the Self.

Jan de Hoog

Jan was born in Nice (France 1985), and spent his childhood and adolescence in Sweden, France and the Netherlands. He always found joy in drawing, especially Japanese Manga. During his mid teens he began leaning more towards surrealism and was eventually accepted into the KABK art academy of the Hague at the age of 18, though he would not stay there for long. Jan had grown weary of the constraints of high school and was eager to improve his technique and little guidance was offered to realise this. A decade passed whereupon the focus was less on visual arts, only to rediscover the love for painting in his late 20s.
At first Jan’s work was greatly influenced by the old masters and, where he did his best to copy their techniques. Jan explains: “It served as an escape from the modern times we live in. I wanted to immerse myself in a place free of gadgets, plastic and drab concrete buildings. However as I progressed I felt the need to capture moments I myself had experienced and slowly but surely this led me to embracing the era I am bound to”. Though he may not love the 21st century he learned to appreciate the twinkling of a city at night, the impeccability of straight architectural lines and the intimidating immensity of brutalism.

Mavien Seçkin

Mavien Seçkin is a contemporary artist whose practice explores themes of identity, memory, and female experience. Through oil-painted portraits, she connects personal narratives with collective memory, placing Kurdish cultural heritage, Deq tattoos, and spiritual symbolism at the center of her work. Bridging traditional figures with a contemporary visual language, her paintings transform the female body into a narrative space where the tension between visibility and concealment is explored.
By incorporating sacred symbols such as the peacock, she reflects on faith, transformation, and protection while reinterpreting the concepts of gaze and representation. Her works invite viewers to encounter not only a portrait but a layered experience of identity, presence, and remembrance.

Skount

Skount is a Spanish visual artist based in Amsterdam, internationally recognized for his symbolic masked figures and multidisciplinary approach. His artwork explores themes of identity, the subconscious, transformation, and emotional reflection. Working across painting, muralism, sculpture, photography, and installation, Skount constructs immersive visual narratives that invite viewers into surreal, introspective, and emotionally charged worlds.
Deeply influenced by global mythologies, esoteric symbolism, spiritual traditions, and cultural storytelling, his creations blend ancient knowledge with contemporary human experience. Entirely self-taught and shaped by his travels, Skount has exhibited throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand and the Americas, forging a unique visual language rooted in both ancestral wisdom and modern symbolism.

Lin-Shi Kok

Lin-shi Kok is a young artist from Groningen who graduated from the Minerva Academy in 2024 with a degree in Autonomous Visual Arts. Before that, she completed an orientation year at the Rietveld Academy and a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy at the University of Groningen. She works at the Van Beek art shop, designs posters for the Vera pop venue, and develops new work in her studio that moves between textiles, lino prints, drawing, and painting.
Her work is colorful, playful, and comforting. Textiles are her preferred medium for their softness and association with security. Her protagonists — often imaginative figures with a subtle idiosyncrasy — invite you into a world that is simultaneously joyful and vulnerable. Lin depicts the search for connection and safety, and if you look closely, you can see that behind all those cheerful colors and expressions, it’s not always an easy quest.

Colina van Bemmel

Colina van Bemmel (Nieuwegein, 1992) is an artist and filmmaker based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She graduated from ArtEZ University of the Arts in Fine Arts (2015), and since then her work has been shown and collected by various institutions and platforms. Working with painting, drawing, and installation, her practice explores the more-than-human world and investigates forms of ecology in which human perception reconnects with larger rhythms of life. Drawing from nature, mystery traditions, and evolving technologies, she engages layers of reality that can be sensed but not always named.
Rooted in a fascination with the Unseen, her work invites moments of re-enchantment and reflection. Alongside her artistic practice, her theoretical research examines the role of art in a post-secular society, exploring how art can open spaces for meaning beyond objectivity and rational certainty within contemporary culture.

Bo van der Eng
Often when I see a certain place or object, I imagine them out of their context; an image forms in my head and I have an urge to recreate it. My own physical position can be part of my experiment, as well as that of passengers. I want to provide them with unexpected scenes. What drives me is my own struggle with experiencing common feelings, like anger and fear, which I make visible in my work by combining beauty/comfort and uneasiness. This and my interest in the (power) relation between humans and animals and their behavioral similarities and differences result in alienating images, whether it’s a painting, sculpture or performance.
Recurring themes in my work are solitude, androgyny, anthropomorphism and the vulnerability of the human body. I work with materials such as clay, paint (acrylic or oil), textile, latex, metal, wood, or objects I find on the street. My techniques can be traditional or experimental, depending on the work.

BART LUTTERS

paintings

27 February – 05 March 2026
OPENING on Saturday, 28 February from 16:00h

Emotional pain has always characterized the human condition. Over the past centuries, the field of psychiatry has emerged to alleviate mental suffering and to protect the social order from those burdened by it. While modern psychiatry has undoubtedly improved the lives of many individuals, it has also created a false dichotomy between the mentally healthy and the mentally ill; the sane and the insane. In his new exhibition, visual artist Bart Lutters draws on his experience as a psychiatrist (in training), medical historian, and patient to explore the fragile distinction between madness and sanity. Can we afford to let go of this distinction? Or do we ultimately need to project our madness onto others to safeguard our own sanity?

ADRIE VAN DER VEN

paintings

13 – 18 February 2026
OPENING on Saturday from 16:00h

For Adrie van der Ven, painting is an encounter — an intimate dialogue between the self and the colors, textures, or subtle atmospheres a canvas evokes. Each work becomes a reflection of the inner world, offering moments of recognition or acting as a mirror that reveals deeper layers of imagination.

In recent years, his focus has shifted primarily toward abstract painting, though realistic elements occasionally find their way into his work. Within abstraction, emotions are free to flow across the canvas. Every piece begins with a thematic foundation, first developed in a conceptual sketch and later translated onto linen, most often in oil. The title at the bottom of each painting is closely tied to this underlying theme.

EDITA
Paintings

 16 – 22 jan 2026
    OPENING on Saturday from 16:00h

Edda Letti (Edita) artworks are created after recovering from a lesson in destruction. Her heart surgery was like a needed push to share her always very creative character. These images came rushing in her mind and woud’t not fade away aslong they where not transferred on paper. She saw also the story behind these images and how it is connected to us personally but also as a mirror to all relationships we can have in our life. Like two people who want to understand each other but sometimes can’t or don’t want to.The vision was also that despite the different thoughts and feelings we can have, together we could still create a beautiful picture from any angle. Her artworks are a game, a quest, and her way of finding peace and balance. She used relationships as a starting point for creating the reflections. The struggle between thought and feeling, freedom and captivity, speech and silence, tears and laughter…the dance between darkness and light, masculine and feminine…mind and heart. This is Edda’s way of healing and seeking for the infinite balance called life.
