Marianne Spitz has always had a preference for figurative and realistic art. She sculpts and paints mainly portraits, the human figure, and animals. Her work can be placed under the heading of modern realism, sometimes with an impressionistic touch. She gives her own interpretation to this and is inspired by the beauty of everyday life and by the people around her.

Before developing herself as a full-time artist, Marianne worked for many years as a legal advisor for various municipalities and companies. Alongside her job, she completed training at the Wackers Academy in Amsterdam in sculpting and painting. She also completed the two-year classical sculpting program at Figura, the Dutch Academy of Classical Sculpture in Amsterdam.

Marianne strives to achieve the highest possible quality in her work—in the use of materials, design, composition, and anatomy. But she also wants to convey the personality and character of the people she portrays. She tries to look with compassion. She wants to truly see the person in her model.
